The latest in a series of five tiny gold figurines recovered from one field on the Danish island of Bornholm is this stretched female. She is 4.2 cm tall, or 1.7 inches.
These have all been found in plowed soil, out of context. Since gold is impossible to date, the figurines present a puzzle. The have been dated on stylistic grounds to the 6th century CE, but that is open to question. A detailed excavation of the field is now planned.
