The new estimate for the cost of building California's high speed rail system is $98 billion, up from the original estimate of $65 billion. No surprise there; the costs of big projects always rise over their history, especially when they involve new technology.
Even if the cost rises to $200 billion, I still say it is a better way of spending our money than the trillion dollar war in Iraq. Or than new highways.
You know, they used to have a brightly colored, easy to read map, but they ditched it in favor of this soothing blue and green thing. Some consultant probably told them that hot colors only added to the anger of opponents, or something.
