Annals of Masculinity: to Get Ahead, Skip Sleep

Scientists have shown that the less sleep male sandpipers get during mating season, the more offspring they sire. Those males who slept the least -- hardly at all, by the way, so these guys were showing extraordinary endurance -- had eight times as many offspring as those who slept the most. To quote the editors of Science, the early bird may get the worm, but the one who stays up all night gets the action.
