The Japanese press is full of stories about a trend called Kousai zero Nichikon, which translates (roughly) as "marriage without dating." It seems that some young Japanese are fed up with dating and searching for the ideal mate (which in Japan happens mostly through online dating sites) and are just marrying their old friends.
It seems that in our world there is no idea too old to be passed off as new, and no idea so unremarkable that it won't be remarked on.
