In Silesia. Oldest part dates to the 13th century, most to the 14th. Destroyed in 1665 by invading Swedes, but later rebuilt and occupied until the early 1800s.
Ogrodzieniec is part of a chain of 25 castles on hilltops in southern Poland known as the “The Trail of the Eagles’ Nests”, Szlak Orlich Gniazd in Polish.
