Franky Zapata's Flyboard

French inventor Franky Zapata on his "Flyboard Air," which can go 100 mph. He first got people's attention on Bastille Day in Paris, and now he has crossed the English Channel. It looks insanely fun.

It reminds some of the Green Goblin, but I had to pull out my Silver Surfer collection. When the Silver Surfer first came out I thought it was too ridiculous to sell. I was wrong, and now look. Okay, okay, we can't yet travel intergalactically on a surfboard, but who can't see it coming.

A masterpiece, science and technics and art - dance - balance - and dream come true. Amazing. The choreography is so beautiful.

It's the perfect combination of stupendously dangerous, wildly expensive, and truly impractical and inefficient. What a marvel of engineering.

It is a sad mark of shame that the greatest achievements of science are always the most boring and uncelebrated ones. We collectively celevrate the showiest and least meaningful developments, and take for granted the vitally important but utterly unglamorous ones that make modern society possible.
