Frank Frazetta's Paperback Covers are Worth Big Bucks

This original painting by Frank Frazetta, At the Earth's Core, was done for the cover of some sleazy fantasy novel in 1974. It just sold at auction for $1,075,500, a record for Frazetta's work.

I wouldn't even call it one of his better covers; imagine what these might sell for.

Or one of these original Conan covers.

There's a certain charm to 70s poster and book cover art. Certainly not all of it, but enough of it to evoke a strange, fond nostalgia in me for the better examples of it, despite being too young to have experienced them in anything remotely like their original context.

Personally I'm partial to William Stout's 1977 poster for the film Wizards.
