This Morning at Great Falls

A wonderful day for archaeology at Great Falls Park. I reached the parking lot in pre-dawn twilight, a barred owl hooting above me and deer in the bushes just 50 feet away. Above, early morning light in Mather Gorge.

Fungus on a log.

A broken arrow head I found on the trail. Probably someplace we should look for a site. I also visited a site my crew found last week, a little quarry where stone tools were made from quartzite cobbles.

Old road trace near the former town of Matildaville.

Full sun on the river.

A stone.
