The Price of Solar Electricity
Today's good news is the continuing fall of the price of solar voltaic cells. They can now be installed for $.74 per watt of capacity, less than 1% of their price in 1977. If the price falls below $.50 -- and there is no reason to suppose that it won't in another decade or two -- then solar power becomes highly competitive even without subsidies.
