Our New Allies, Iran

The one good thing about our little war against the real monsters of ISIS is that it might get Americans to give up our absurd demonization of Iran:
The fight for Amerli, in northern Iraq, appeared to mark the first time American warplanes and militias backed by Iran were working with a common purpose on the battlefield against militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
Those Iraqi Shiite militias were trained and armed by Iran and are still full of Iranian agents. So we are now bombing to support attacks launched by Iranian agents. The Times calls this "strange bedfellows," but really it makes perfect sense. Both the US and Iran want Iraq to be a stable nation ruled by its Shiite majority, with respect for the rights of Sunnis. Obviously there are a lot of issues on which the US disagrees with Iran, but this is equally true of our "allies" in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. So can we please drop the "axis of evil" crap now and treat Iran like the normal nation it is?
