Unemployment and Education
I think this graph explains a lot about America today. One reason we are not doing more to help the unemployed is that almost all of our political leadership has a college degree, and they mostly hang out with other people who have college degrees, so they aren't really seeing an economic crisis. The people hurting the most are the ones least involved in the political process. The graph also explains the depth of anger and despair in blue collar communities, where unemployment is quite severe but nobody in power much seems to care.
