River Sharks
As the Potomac River slowly recovers from centuries of pollution and other abuse, animals that haven't been seen since the Civil War are turning up again: sturgeon, shad (which now breed and die in sufficient numbers to make the whole river stink of dead shad every April) and now bull sharks, two of which were caught over the weekend near St. Mary's. Bull sharks attack people, so this will no doubt make some folks nervous, but we are a much greater danger to them than they are to us.
