Elbphilharmone, Hamburg by Herzog & de Meuren

It certainly achieves the minimum standard for expensive architecture, of not looking like everything else. And note that the bottom block is an existing warehouse that had to be left in place. But since the first concert is yet to be performed, nobody knows yet how it sounds. Since it cost $800 million, up from the originally forecast $200 million, it had better sound great.
