It is, I think, the question of the hour: what matters more than having your party in power? Truth? Law? Loyalty to the Constitution? Belief in Democracy? Consistency? What?

That naturally depends on who you ask. And if you ask many Republicans, the answer is "Nothing".
I just hope today's events help millions of Americans finally realize that fact. The writing has been on the wall for a long time, but denial is a hell of a drug.
It depends on whom you ask (remembering that only side can reasonably be asked this question at the moment); I imagine that one answer might be along the lines of "sometimes you have to destroy the republic in order to save it."
