Filling Out the Periodic Table
The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) has certified the creation -- for a few microseconds, anyway -- of elements 113, 115, 117, and 118, filling out the seventh row of the Periodic Table. It's going to be a banner year for the makers of the posters that hang in high school science rooms, since now everybody needs a new one.
