Brood X

The 17-year cicadas are here; they started emerging all over the yard by the dozens yesterday afternoon. None in the woods yet; I guess it is a little cooler there. So the pileated woodpeckers flew out into the neighborhood to gorge themselves on suburban bugs; we had one in our yard not 30 feel from where we were sitting. I know some people are creeped out by cicadas but I find them fascinating.

If they were round in shape and colored red with white spots, like lady bugs, people would find them adorable. Humanity never fails to be shallow, absurd, and hypocritical.

What will happen if you took some brood X to a place of say brood V? If I was in the USA I would take a few houndreds to transplant them...

Rationally I know that there is no threat from cicadas... but nonetheless...
