The Dream

Sam explains about the secret entrance to the castle.

Gilly: How do you know all this?

Sam: I read about it in a very old book.

Gilly: You know all that, just from staring at marks on paper? You're, like, a wizard.

"Clarke's Third Law: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." - Arthur C. Clarke, Profiles of the Future (revised edition, 1973)

Often what is madness and magic when it is first proposed or invented becomes banal and taken for granted sooner or later.

We all do miraculous things many times every day, and rarely ever stop to recognize just how astounding and incredible our lives actually are. Instead, many of us consume ourselves with ennui, bored with our familiar and ordinary kinds of magic.

The cure, of course, is simple - actively choosing to be more self aware, to laugh at ourselves more often, to find wonder and joy in the seemingly ordinary, and to work to more fully appreciate the many amazing things that we too often take for granted.
