I thought that male lions were territorial and didn't hang out together.

That's the point. Lions are much more diverse than the stereotypical pictures gives them credit for.

In some areas, lions hunt elephants, so their prides often have five or six males so they have the firepower to bring down something so big. In other areas the young male lions form bachelor prides and hang around together until they are ready to challenge for a pride of females; that is what I take this to be.
