The Shah's Clock

Sotheby's just sold this magnificent eighteenth-century clock for $2.5 million to an unnamed Asian collector.  It was made for the Asian market by English clockmaker Peter Torckler and once belonged to Shah Nasar al-Din of Persia (1831-1896).
The magnificent automaton springs to life every third hour, playing music, waving its tail and trunk and flapping its ears.
