Italian archaeologists have found three partial skeletons that appear to have been sunk to the bottom of an irrigation ditch and then slowly silted over. The ditch, near Modena, dates to the 1st century AD. The skeletons are those of men, aged 16-20, 18-25, and around 30, and marks of violence are visible on some bones. One skeleton's hands are crossed behind his back, as if they had been tied that way. Murder is suspected.
