Studies have shown that as much as 19% of autistic children will “move off the autistic spectrum” before their seventh birthday. Thus, children “recover” or even get “cured” spontaneously. Even if some people don’t like to hear that.How often this happens seems to be controversial; a recent meta-study found documented recovery rates that varied from 3% to 25%. But nobody seems to dispute that some autistic children go on to be normal adults.
