This is a spot where I may soon be conducting a little archaeological investigation, in a yard behind a historic house that survives in downtown DC amidst tall office buildings. Standing in the yard is something like being in the bottom of a deep hole. You can get a sense of how much light reaches the ground from the health of the bushes.
Ah, well, I suppose if my job was all about digging great sites in lovely surroundings, I couldn't get paid for it.
