Looking for more dinosaurs in the Sahara Desert, paleontologist Paul Sereno instead stumbled across a cemetery of human bones. (Lots of great pictures.) They date to the period from 12,000 to 8,000 years ago, when much of the Sahara was a verdant savanna. The people who roamed this area left a record of its animal life in the form of rock art like the pictures below.
