Today was a miserable rainout; these are from Monday. The Joseph Poffenberger farm is at the northern edge of the battlefield. There was no fighting here, but Federal troops massing here in the early morning were shelled by Confederate artillery. The farmhouse and washhouse were built around 1800. The barns are in the same places as the antebellum barns but I think they have been rebuilt.
Love these stone piers.
