To me, all the extra frippery detracts from the simple elegance of origami cranes, but to each their own I suppose.

Although, now I just clicked through and found the prices. $150+ for a roughly 2 inch ordinary paper crane with some doily bits and dollar store craft materials glued to it. That's how you know it's really "Art"!

Ugh.

I like the play of the blues, light greens, and blacks in the first and the white fragility of the 2nd. I like frippery sometimes.

@Shadow

So do I, and if I saw these in another context, I'd likely enjoy them. If I visited a little old grandma's home and saw them on a mantlepiece or a coffee table, I'd likely find them charming.

But in the context of high-brow art? It smacks of arrogant pretension. This is pleasant hobbywork, even a medium for meditation, but it's not grand artistry, though clearly multiple people are invested in trying to pass it off as such.
