John Thomas Smith was fascinated by the London low-life of the early 1800s. He made dozens of engravings illustrating the types of people who could be seen on the street, especially beggars. They were published in 1817 in a volume titled Vagabondiana. Images from one of my favorite blogs, Spitalfields Life.
