Debating NSA Surveillance
The amendment offered in the House by Reps. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) and John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) to restrict surveillance by the NSA was defeated yesterday. But the vote was only 217 to 205, with a majority of Democrats voting to limit the powers of their own president. This encourages me to think that more exposure of this mad data stockpiling and more debate may eventually bring stricter limits on our government's obsessive spying.
