New Species from Mozambique

Scientists exploring the Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique, Africa, a region of nearly inaccessible gorges, have cataloged dozens of new species. Below, the "Chewbacca bat" (Triaenops persicus) and the slender praying mantis. More at National Geographic.

The praying mantis looks like something out of a brilliant 3-D CGI'driven movie of the Avatar family. Or like the boss villain of a fantasy RPG.
