Sebastião Salgado, In Love with Planet Earth

Sebastião Salgado's new photographs celebrate the beauty of the earth. He says of them,
With this project, I fell in love with my planet. This work is not about landscapes. It is about love. . . . this project restored my soul.
Above, bats in tamarind trees, Madagascar.

Salgado is astonishing. If you ever doubted that photography is an art, at which some people are geniuses, you have only to peruse this slide show. Above, volcanoes in Kamchatka, with a line of clouds separating a 2,600-foot crater from the huge base of Kamen volcano, rising to 15,000 feet.

Caimans in the Panatal wetland, Brazil.

Baobab trees, Madagascar.
