The well in the older part of our site, filled around 1820, has been producing a plethora a large sherds from red earthenware vessels.
All of this came out either late yesterday afternoon or today, within quite a small area. In the upper left is a medium-sized bowl, probably made in Philadelphia. Upper right are five sherds from a small milk pan. Lower right is a sherd from a dish in the Pennsylvania German style. In the bottom center are five sherds from a jar; all the other vessels are have lead-based glaze, but this one has an iron oxide glaze. Lower left are three sherds from a large storage jar.
A close-up of the Philadelphia bowl.
