A Scythian Queen

Skeleton of a Scythian queen excavated from the Chertomlyk barrow, near Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine. From the excavation report by Vasily A. Prokhorov, 1881.

Headdress and ornaments of a priestess Demeter, found in the tomb. Date is c. 425 BC.

Silver rhyton found in the same barrow.

Wonderful treasure, thank you, I admire the Scythian era, its mix of nomadic and Empire, their valiant fightback in Darius I campaign, their artistry. I just wished you told where those artifacts are now, as far as I know many are in Russia (St Petersburg), some have left Ukraine to be protected in the West, few remain there.
