Images from the Tarot Deck created by Surrealist painter and sculptor Leonora Carrington (1917-2011). Carrington was much influenced by Jungian psychology, so it makes sense that she would have been interested in the Tarot.
There are a ton of images of these online right now because the whole deck was recently published in book form. Only two of the cards have been securely dated, to 1954 and 1955, but it seems that all were made in the 1950s.
Carrington often used Tarot cards to "access her subconscious" and she put Tarot images in many of her paintings, especially the Hanged Man, who appeares in at least four.
More on Carrington: paintings, sculpture, and some thoughts on her lifelong rebellion against "conformism."
