The Silver-Backed Chevrotain Endures

The silver-backed chevrotain is a rare hoofed animal native to Vietnam. It was described by a French zoologist in 1910 based on four dead specimens, and the next scientific sighting did not occur until the 1990s, and some people thought it was extinct. But now it has been picked up in camera traps. Incidentally the locals in the forested region outside Nha Trang knew the animals were still around and helped the scientists set up their cameras in the right places to catch more than 200 images of these little wonders.
