How Farmers Got their Pots
All you archaeologists out there: ever wondered how farmers got those pots we dig up? Very often, like this. (Jacob Ernst Marcus, Landscape with Resting Pottery Seller, 1810) The limited selection such peddlers could carry on their backs, or on a mule, helps explain why everybody seems to have had exactly the same stuff.
