Lightning at the Vatican

I just wanted to say that this picture of lightning striking the Vatican on the day of the pope's resignation is amazing. Does this happen often? Certainly this is the only picture I have found of this happening -- in contrast to, for example, the Empire State Building, which gets struck by lightning all the time.
