American Carbon Emissions are Falling
In July, US carbon emissions fell to a 20-year low. This is mostly because utilities are gradually switching from coal to natural gas, but wind power, solar power, and improved gas mileage in cars also help. The drop is too small to make much difference in our climate future, but it points to something important: this is a solvable problem, if we cared enough to solve it.
