Votive Idols of Ancient Sardinia

These bronze figurines were left as offerings at shrines in Sardinia between 1000 and 700 BC. Above, mother with child.

The "Chief of the Herdsmen." Several images of this type are known, and some scholars think this is a king, prince, or priest. But nobody really knows.

Two archers, still joined by a root that grew through the pit where they had been deposited and separated them from a large bronze vessel.

A stag.  All from the George Ortiz Collection.
