More on the Revolutionary Depression
As Matt Yglesias notes, the research I just wrote about suggesting that the Revolutionary period (1774-1991) saw a 28% decline in American per capita income, worse than in the Great Depression, sheds some light on the political crisis that led to the Constitutional Convention. No wonder people felt the Articles of Confederation weren't working.
