Excavation continues in crypt under the Bronze Age palace at Qatna, Syria, where spectacular finds have already been made. This year's finds include the Egyptian gold and lapis bangle (above) and a pile of bones -- presumably servants, possibly sacrificed to accompany their masters to the afterlife -- mixed with pottery (below).
