I've never been fully on board with the idea of nerdcore as a genre, but I must admit I have been a longtime fan of certain artists such as MC Frontalot.

In terms of musical weirdness, nerdcore is just the tip of the iceberg - particularly if you look to the indie scenes in places like Seattle, LA, San Fran, or New York. When you've got people out there writing songs called Riding a Black Unicorn Down the Side of an Erupting Volcano While Drinking from a Chalice Filled with the Laughter of Small Children, and those are among the more normal sounding pieces you're likely to listen to, you can tell the rabbit hole goes very deep indeed.
