I'm guessing that the pitcher is either damaged, was actually wholly lost and replaced, or perhaps was never even originally present?

That bizarre squared off handle seems obviously not part of the original, and very strongly looks like plastic. I just can't make up my mind about the body of the pitcher itself. I'm tempted to say it's original, though, and the tiny and delicate original handle simply broke off at some point.
