The Dawnay family have put their manor house and village in Yorkshire up for sale, asking price £20 million.
The Dawnays have owned West Heslerton for 150 years and they are selling everything: the great house, 43 other homes, a pub, even a gas station. According to the tenants, the recently deceased Miss Dawnay was a splendid landlord who kept the rents low. So they set a high bar for lordly behavior.
But you could pay £20 million for one Fabergé egg, and wouldn't you rather be master of your own domain?
