I just looked up Spoleto, and it's one of those quaint little Italian towns nestled in the hills that looks like it has followed pretty much the same groundplan for half a millenia or more. There's even an amazing fortress (I believe built, on the orders of Pope Innocent VI, but I'm translating badly from an Italian source) that's stood for over 750 years.

Now I want to visit.
