That map must be carefully analysed. First, from a 2024 (one year) fall no tendency can be drawn. Second, countries are in very different situation; the causes of fall in Russia are surely quite different from the causes in the UK (*), as also the causes of fall in Portugal. These are influenced for the rate emmigration / immigration, meaning people just go elsewhere, while in Russia (**) it may have to do with low expectancies in the future, and maybe - just maybe - decreasing resources. The problem of world population can only be approached in a global perspective for an extended period of time. (*) The whole UK is red, but I know Scotland is growing in population! (**) Russia big red size impresses, but the map is distorted by projection - it's not that big - and with such a deserted land area the big red is statistically meaningless.
