Spring in the Woods, and in the Garden

In the woods Friday, signs of spring everywhere.

Skunk cabbage coming up.

And lots of bloodwort, more than I have ever seen before. Unortunately, my phone's camera has real trouble with white flowers.

Meanwhile in the garden, lots is happening. This weekend I dug in 27 gallons of compost and generally got the year under way. The plum tree looks better every year, the daffodils are wonderful, and we even had a decent array of tulips; I guess the deer haven't been especially hungry.
