Thomas (12) has started running a game for his friends. This is his first gaming map, preserved here for posterity:

And Ben (6), although he doesn't run a game, has also drawn a map of his own world:

Wow, what a concept. Do you run your own invention or is this more in the Gygax model?
With other grown-ups I use my own rules, refined during years of gaming in college and afterward. With my kids I use official D&D, thinking that having everything written down in books would make it easier for them to play with their friends. And so it is proving to be.
