Sometimes it seems that politics has no impact, and people just go on believing what they believe and doing what they want regardless of what their "leaders" say. For example, study after study has found that pro-natal government campaigns have very little impact on fertility. Which makes this case particularly dramatic.
I have to think that millions of people have always hated and feared injections –with what does Darth Vader threaten Princess Leia? – and RFK pseudoscience has given them an excuse to indulge those fears.

Meanwhile, in subsaharan Africa, people flock to foreign aid stations in the hopes of getting vaccines - vaccines which are now being destroyed by the millions instead of delivered and used to protect innocent lives, thanks to Trump and RFK.
The idiotic neuroses of a small handful of Americans, intentionally amplified by cynical power- and profit-mongers using lying and bad faith arguments to score political points, resulting in such mass cruelty and human suffering... it's monstrous in a way that is difficult to even describe.
And then everyone, on both sides of politics, will wail and moan and gnash their teeth if you so much as dare to chastise these people for their wickedness, and then they cluck about the need for us all to display empathy for the poor, scared, delusional morons whose selfishness and willful ignorance is causing millions to suffer and die needlessly.
This is the issue of our time. The problem with Americans today is that we're sniveling cowards who lack the spines and integrity to speak truth to power and stand up for what reality and decency. And that's why things are spilling over into violence - at a certain point, when too many people stick their heads in the sand so deeply, there's no more realistic chance of reaching them with words. And when that happens, people resort to the "continuation of politics by other means", as Clausewitz put it.
The reason things aren't going to get better in America any time soon is because an entire political party has abandoned the need for truth, and refuses to admit to themselves or the world that they are in the wrong in anything. When people won't listen - won't even make a show of listening - we humans start throwing rocks. And when that happens, it tends to go on for quite a while, because both sides just make each other angrier and angrier - until eventually, the whole ordeal because too exhausting to justify further, and both sides grudgingly return to the bargaining table, and rediscover their willingness to listen and compromise.
But it takes two. Short of total conquest/defeat of one side or the others, there is no peace without both sides committing to it.
