For a long time already the special military operation has been having a very positive impact on life inside our country. The special military operation has united our society in an unprecedented way and allowed it to purify itself of people who didn’t feel a belonging to Russian history and culture. Some of them left, some of them remained and gave thought to leaving. But the overwhelming part of society united like never before. You know, we had a great satirist, Mikhail Zhvanetsky – unfortunately he’s no longer with us – but among his brilliant sketches was this one. It was a very long time ago, 20 or maybe 30 years ago when he said it. He has a monologue on the subject of the Russian and Soviet people. And he said the following: ‘Our people need a major war in order to become truly united.’ He seemed to be saying it with humor. But in every joke there’s an element of truth.

Because it's so absurd it undermines itself.
Even here, you have a few readers who I'm not so sure would find it remotely absurd, and would nod their heads at it and feel validated...
