Crochet Coral Reef

Crochet Coral Reef a long-running craft project, begun in 2005, that also has ambitions in environmental science and the representation of certain mathematical forms. The project was created by twin sisters Christine and Margaret Wertheim, respectively an artist and a science writer. The two sisters now live together in Los Angeles. 

To date, nearly 25,000 people have worked on the project, which now consists of fifty separate "reefs."
