Katie Peterson

Katie Peterson is a young conceptual artist given to creating things like records made from glacial ice, that are installed in a gallery and played until they melt, or "The Dying Star Letters", which are letters the artist writes whenever she hears that a star has exploded. To which I can only shrug. But as parts of these strange projects she sometimes creates marvelous images that soar above the tendentious pseudo-scientific phrasing. Above, Lightbulb to Simulate Moonlight, 2010.

All the Dead Stars, 2009.

Into this Desert Lies the Tiniest Grain of Sand, 2010.

100 Billion Suns.
